Dear Friend,,

TAG is proud to release our latest factsheet on near point-of-care (NPOC) tuberculosis (TB) tests — a practical guide for communities and advocates to secure funding and policy uptake of NPOC tests through Global Fund GC8 funding requests.

Inside, you'll find clear language, budget lines, use case illustrations and an advocacy timeline to demand NPOC platforms, cartridges, training, and community monitoring — everything you need to ensure these promising new tests reach primary health centers and serve populations missed by current TB diagnostics.

Here's what makes this moment so important:

  • TB remains the world's leading infectious disease killer. In 2024, an estimated 2.7 million of the 10.8 million people who developed TB went undiagnosed, and only 48% of those diagnosed received molecular testing as their initial TB test.
  • These new WHO-recommended NPOC tests can close that diagnostic gap. Portable, battery-powered, results in under 30 minutes, affordable, with the option to use tongue swabs for individuals who can't produce sputum.
  • The Global Fund's Grant Cycle 8 is open now. Use our factsheet to shape national strategies, review GC8 drafts, and track rollout through the full funding cycle.

In Solidarity,
